The Best Beech really is good.
Sometimes life is a bummer! We planned for waliking, it started to rain so we returned to the Best Beech. An afternoon in front of the comfortable fire, free wifi, great beer, a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The owners are brilliant, I don't have to tell you who they are, you will find out. If they are not on duty everyone who comes in will ask after them. That's what i call a local , even if it is 60 miles (100km!!) away.

My husband and I decided we wanted to get away for New Years Eve but didn't want to travel too far. We booked in to the Best Beech not really knowing what to expect. On arrival the manager, Nathan, came straight out from behind the bar to welcome us and introduce us to his lovely wife Tracy. From start to finish we were made to feel extremely welcome and comfortable. Nathan showed us to our room, (with a 4 poster bed no less) and left us to relax and settle in. The room is absolutely amazing - fantastic comfortable bed, a lovely sitting area and an ensuite bathroom with a fantastic Big Bath! All of the soft furnishings are of a very high standard and everything was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a beautiful buffet with chocolate brownies to die for, with a glass of champagne at midnight to bring in 2012. On New Years Day Nathan and Tracy served a beautiful full English breakfast to set us up for the day. I cannot recommed the Best Beech high enough and look forward to returning very soon to sample the Sunday Lunch Menu. Well done Nathan and Tracy and keep up the good work.

We booked a party for 20 for sunday lunch to happen on the 8th January 2012, just before Nathan & Tracy took over the previous December. We were relieved to know that they had kept the previous chef, but concerned as to whether our party would be too much of an imposition on a sunday.
We needn't have worried, the team coped superbly and our guests were glowing in their praise of the menu and food quality.
Altogether a thoroughly satisfactory and enjoyable experience in every way, although our apologies to any locals who turned up on spec hoping to be fed, as our party was taking the full output from the kitchen.

My husband and I spent New Years Eve at The Best Beech and it proved to be an excellent night out! The new managers, Nathan and Tracy, were very welcoming and the atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. The chef made a delicious buffet and we will definitely be returning with our family to sample the full menu usually offered and won't hesitate to recommend The Best Beech to our family and friends.
